    Warnings & their meanings.

Sometimes I get some warnings when HelpStudio has finished compiling the help file. But I don't know what to fix/correct them just by reading the warning text. What do the following warnings mean:

    • No URL assigned to a page TOC node, assigning ~~Empty~~.htm.
    • Info: Parsing topic
    • Info: Saving topic
    • Info: Saving file

Is there a source with a list of warning and error messages that a HelpStudio user could encounter, what they mean, and suggestions on fixing the situation.

As of now, these warnings do not seem to be affecting my output. But, I do get them often, and I'm curious to know more about them.

    Thanks.

If you click the link in the build output to view the Help 2.x compiler log, you can use the help link next to each error or warning to navigate to the appropriate Microsoft help topic for each entry.

There is only a limited amount of information in the Microsoft online help (as is the case around much of Help 2.x), but if there is something specific that you are having problems with just drop us an email to support@innovasys.com and we'll be happy to take a look.

I do click the compiler log and can see the affected topics. Just not sure what has to be done in the topic with respect to the warning.

What would be the solution for "No URL assigned to a page TOC node, assigning ~~Empty~~.htm."? What should I do when I open the topic associated with this warning?

You're right, there isn't much information on MS online help.

    Thanks.

Would you be able to send in a copy of your project to support@innovasys.com so we can run the replication process here and investigate? This would be the most efficient way for us to offer you a resolution.

    Ok. Thank you.

Just as a follow up to this warning - this warning just means that you have a Table of Contents node that does not point to a page in your help file or to a Url. The warning can be safely ignored - unfortunately there isn't a way to prevent the compiler from raising it.
