    Visual Studio Comment Editor

    I don't have Document X in the Tools menu of Visual Studio. Therefore, I don't have the Edit Documentation button available on the toolbar to make edits in the comments.

    Could you tell me how to incorporate Document X with VS? I use VS 2008.

    Which toolbar should I turn on to view the required button?

    Thanks.

    Are you using Document! X 2008 ? If so then you can select Tools > Add in Manager to integrate Document! X 2008. If however you are using Document! X 5 the I'm afraid this isn't compatible with VS 2008. It will document assemblies but the Visual Comment editor won't function.

    I'm sorry I couldn't be of more assistance,

    Yes, I'm using Doc X 2008 & VS 2008. But, when I select Tools > Add-in Manager (in VS) the dialog offers nothing that can be selected before clicking the Add button (the lines are all empty).

    Is there anything specific that must be done when installing VS 2008 to enable Doc X 2008 to be available to it?

    Thanks,

    Could you try a clean install of Document! X please.

    1.  Un-install Document! X
    2.  Reboot your machine
    3.  Remove the innovasys directory.
        XP = program files\innovasys\.
        Vista = program data\innovasys\.
    4.  Install Document! X

    If that fails please report this to support@innovasys.com so we can investigate this throroughly.

    I apologize for any inconvenience this problem has caused you.

    Update - since I completed the project I was working on, as per your suggestion I reinstalled Doc X. The Edit Documentation button in VS is now available and functions. Big Smile

    So I guess I must always install Doc X after VS.

    Is there any such sequence to be considered when installing both Doc X & HS?

    Thank you

    The issue with Document! X is that the setup detects if you have Visual Studio installs and if you don't it won't install those components. So it's not so much the order of install, but the components that are installed. You should be OK to install HelpStudio and Document! X in either order.

     "You should be OK to install HelpStudio and Document! X in either order." >> I often wondered about that. Thanks for answering that too. Smile
